As we entered we were seated right away and offered menus. Since we were not sure what to eat yet, we started pouring over their extensive list of tea brews. There is a blend of tea for each taste--something fruity, black, green and the list goes on.
I had a pot of English Breakfast tea (PHP 100 for 8 oz, PHP 125 for 16 oz and PHP 140 for 20 oz ) as I already tried the fruity Skala tea last time. Chryssie had these instead. Toni was more adventurous and tried one of their coffee infused blends (and I forgot the exact one as they had several.
I have enjoyed how the British have their tea so I poured some cream into mine and a little bit of sugar. I was glad they offered to give some cream as the tea brew was really strong after they steeped it in individual pots. I loved their tea pots where you can simply place it over a cup and it will pour the tea at the bottom. I think this balanced out the flavors and not just have the stronger tastes at the bottom.
The skala tea is best served as it is. Each fruity sip is simply divine.
Toni's coffee infused brew came next. She opted to have this one cold. After setting the glass, they provided her a container of cute paper straws for her to choose from. She was not fond of the coffee-infused brew. Yes this type of tea is simply for the adventurous.
Chryssie had the Mushroom and Mascarpone pasta (PHP 390). The flavors are very suble in this dish.
Toni had something light, Gravlax and Kesong Puti Salad (PHP 390). We thought this would have been better if the smoked salmon was served on top of the greens. It was as if this deconstructed salad was 3 different dish samplers.
I had the Crispy Pork Banh Mi Sandwich (PHP 340). This was really good served on a crusty baguette. Good balance of crispy pork with the tangy slaw and served with some cilantro. This is recoommended if you would like to have lunch at daude.
Their staff was really friendly and knows what to recommend. The tea blends were great and I would like to try other blends.
We still enjoyed our meal even if there were some hit and misses. I think we are still due to have high tea here someday.
